Shahid Malik has built trust through collaboration and partnerships. By embracing and fostering a culture of hard work, accessibility, diversity and guidance from not only his mind but his heart, it has led him to a holistic leadership that truly reflects the diversity of Fairfax County and the Sully District.
Sully District Family
For the past 25+ years, Shahid Malik has been a community member of Fairfax County. He currently resides in the Sully District with his wife, Bushra, and their four children. Shahid has taken many paths as he traveled the world, and explored America, but when he and his wife found Fairfax County, they knew they found their home and a place to raise their family. Shahid has built a strong bond with his children, friends and community over the years, a quality that his children have also embraced, by choosing to attend local Universities.
Community and Humanitarian Leader
Shahid Malik has a deep investment not only in his own neighborhood but in the neighborhoods across the globe. At Humanity First, an independent charitable organization, he serves as the International Director of the Water for Life project. Shahid and his team annually travel to Central America and Africa to install clean water wells and pumps, which provide fresh water for thousands of people.
His faith-based leadership roles have allowed him to practice active community building. As President of the Northern Virginia Chapter, he has led several projects, such as: adopt-a-highway, providing food to the homeless shelter, local blood drive, interfaith symposia, promotion of peace and loyalty campaigns, and public service initiatives. In the National Chapter, he serves as the head of the Social Services Department to help struggling families with financial guidance and assistance to the Spousal Abuse and Prevention of Domestic Violence program.
He is proud to be an American and proud to celebrate his heritage with his family and friends. He is a member of the Pakistan American Business Association (PABA), where he also serves on the Board of Directors. This organization’s mission is to serve the professional, educational, career development, and networking needs of Pakistani and American entrepreneurs. Shahid remembers the pride and joy he felt as he began his life in America and pays homage to this by helping to provide others with the tools and opportunities needed to succeed.
Professional and Entrepreneurial
Shahid has built his professional career in the United States and in Virginia step by step. His professions have been diversified which further reflects Shahid’s continual personnel growth. He has worked both in the private and public sectors, serving as a Consultant and Quality Assurance Manager at Datawiz Corporation, Director of Technical Engineering at Novell, Project Manager for Lockheed Martin, Project Manager for the Tenant Eligibility Verification System at the Department of Housing and Urban Development as well as serving in the Planning and Management Disaster Recovery Facility for various Government Agencies.
In 2008, Shahid opened an event management company called “R U Being Served”, which his wife and him now own and operate. A passion for helping his community celebrate their festivities, the idea developed further after volunteering as the head coordinator for large annual faith-based conventions.
